Waiting For Grace

Just over four years ago, my husband, myself, and my oldest daughter, welcomed our pre- adoptive/foster daughter, Paige, into our home.  We instantly fell in love with the very petite 14 month old who seemed so different from other children her age.  Paige was not yet legally free for adoption, but we did not care.  In our hearts we knew that she would be our daughter.  Unfortunately, we had no comprehension of the difficulties we would encounter on the road to adoption.

I have decided that I will not tell all of Paige's story in one post.  Instead, I will share pieces of her story, our story, each week to give it the time it deserves.  As a mother, it was difficult to imagine the pain and suffering our daughter endured in her young life.  When I say young, I mean that she was only 4 months old when she was removed from her biological family's home.  In those 4 short months irreparable damage was done to our beautiful baby's body, brain, and soul.

Flash forward to 2013, Paige is now 5 years old.  We were finally able to adopt her shortly before her 3rd birthday.  Paige's adoption day was amazing.  Every worry and care which we lived with for almost two years vanished.  God had seen us through the worst of times.  He saved our little girl.

God has always made His presence felt where Paige is concerned.  He has answered many prayers, and seen us through hopeless times.  I don't know why I should be surprised when one of Paige's prayers was answered in a mighty way, this week.  Earlier this week, Paige asked about adopting another baby.
My standard reply is: "If God wants us to have a baby, He will place on in our path".  Little did I know that God was listening.

Paige is not the only child in her biological family to go into the foster care system.  In 2011, a baby girl was born to Paige's biological father.  To the best of our knowledge we thought that the baby girl had been adopted to another family.  Yesterday, I found out that I was wrong.  Paige's baby sister had never been adopted, in fact she is still in the foster care system.  We received a call asking if we were interested in pursuing adoption!  God was listening.

And now the process begins.  Please check back for more on "Waiting for Grace".
